He then went on to pursue a degree in industrial economics and technology management in Chalmers University of Technology but left the university in 2011. It has been reported that he left Charmers to focus on his YouTube career, in 2017.

Kjellberg clarified that he left because of his lack of interest in his course of study. He expressed that, in general, leaving university to pursue a YouTube career would be “epic stupid”. After registering his eponymous YouTube channel in 2010, PewDiePie primarily posted let’s play videos of horror and action video games.

His channel experienced substantial growth in popularity over the next two and he reached 1 million subscribers in July of 2012. Over time, his style of content diversified to include blogs, comedy shorts, formatted shows, and music videos.

PewDiePie became the most subscribed to YouTube on 15th August 2013, and after being briefly surpassed in late 2013 by YouTube Spotlight, firmly held the title until early 2019, when he publicly vied for it with the Indian record label T-series. The latter established a significant lead in April that year, although Kjellburg’s channel remains as the second most subscribed on the platform, having received over 106 million subscribers, as of August 2nd, 2020.

PewDiePie’s popularity on YouTube and extensive media coverage have made him want to be the most noted online personality and content creators. Due to this audience and media attention, his coverage of indie games has created an Oprah effect, boosting sales for titles that he plays.

In 2016, TIME Magazine named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people. Known for his idiosyncratic sense of humor, the nature of his video content has been described by various outlets as goofy, energetic, and obnoxious yet genuine and unfiltered.

PewDiePie Life Style

Studio Cost

As might be expected, a major investment PewDiePie is in his own set up for his YouTube videos, the main and original source of his income. He has, for instance, three Asus Rog Swift Monitors at $1,000. A Corsair Strafe mechanical gaming keyboard costing $150. A Benq Zowie FK1 mouse that cost about $100. His own model of Razer Kraken Pro V2 headphones cost about $130, and a Canon XA11 HD video camera retails around $1,300.

As a second camera, he has a Canon G7X Mark II, which cost about $700. An AKG C414 XLS microphone cost around $750. A 600 Watt Neewerfluorescent for lighting, which cost about $76, and a Clutch Chairz ‘PewDiePie Edition’ Throttle gaming chair, which cost about $400. In addition, he pays two full-time editors, though exactly how much isn’t known.

Fashion Cost

He pays to have merchandise using his brand manufactured and sold. He also likes to collect some odd things including some fashion items such as his Saikou Double Primeknit sneakers, which retail for about $400 to $500 a pair.

Car Costs

Well, he also has some cool cars. What goes well with the Swedish YouTuber? A Swedish car of course!

PewDiePie bought his Volvo XC90 T8 in 2017. And it’s not hard to see why he was attracted to it. This hybrid car has a combined power output of 407 bhp which is fairly good for an SUV. It also goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.6 seconds. The Volvo XC90 T8 starts at a modest £67,000 and has optional extras such as air suspension, which will set you back £2,150. The party piece of this car, however, is that, in cold weather, the car will heat up to a set temperature before you enter its luxurious cabin.

The second car is a Mini Convertible. PewDiePie bought the car in 2015 when he only had 40 million subscribers. He said that he uses the mini Austin and enjoys long drives around Brighton with it. The mini convertible doesn’t offer as much space or as much comfort as its German rivals such as the Audi A3 Convertible or the VW Golf Convertible, but the British car does claw back some admiration in its classic and timeless styling.

He also has a Porsche 911. The Porsche 911 is a definitive sport car classic. Porsche 911 that Felix owns is the 2016 911, which was the first-ever 911 to stray away from naturally aspirated engines and opt for the turbo-powered motor instead.

The price for a 2016 911 with PDK transmission is £88,245. Vehicles like Audi’s R8 and Lamborghini Huracan might be pretenders to the throne, but the 911 remains the king. If you ask anyone what car PewDiePie owns, it would be this Japanese beauty Nissan Micra. This car is featured in his video titled ‘My New Car’ which was released amidst a lot of YouTubers showcasing their various exotic and expensive motors.

As a joke, PewDiePie thought it would be funny if he revealed what looks to be a prehistoric Nissan Micra. The video features Felix walking around his new car and showing that he has quite a messy interior and he also keeps a body pillow in the passenger seat.

PewDiePie’s Fundraising and Popularity

“Life is too to focus on the things you hate, focus on what you love instead.” PewDiePie

Two days after his initial announcement, PewDiePie announced in another video that he had decided to withdraw his donation. He expressed that he was advised to donate to the ADL and did not hand-pick an organization that he was passionate about, as he had done with previous donations.

Additionally, he confirmed that he would still make a $50,000 donation to an organization at some point in the future, but after undergoing his usual process to select the suitable one. On October 31st, 2019 PewDiePie donated $69,420 to team trees, a fundraising drive taking action against deforestation by pledging to plant one tree for every dollar donated.
